Pearl D. Guillard, age 59 of Athens died Tuesday morning, Aug. 7, 2012.
Born Apr. 26, 1953 in New Orleans, Louisiana, she was the daughter of the late James & Pearl Bell Landers.
She was a graduate of John H. Martin High School in Metairie, Louisianna and a 19 year resident of New Britain, Conn. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness, Athens. Her home in New Orleans was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina and her family moved to Athens following the storm.
A devoted and faithful wife, mother and grandmother, she was a minister of the Good News.
Pearl is survived by her husband of 42 years of blissful marriage, John Guillard, Jr.; two daughters- Annetra (James) White of Philadelphia, Pa. and Gezelle Guillard of Athens; a son, John Guillard, III of Nelsonville; three grandchildren- James White III, Essence Francis and Elijah Francis; a sister, Mary Ida; two brothers- Alvin and Roosevelt; also surviving are several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents she is preceded in death by four siblings.
A funeral service will be conducted Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens. No calling hours will be observed. Cremation will follow the service.
