Ann Grover passed away on April 19, 2026, at Hinsdale Hospital in Hinsdale, Illinois, after a very brief illness. Ann was a person of great warmth and hospitality, loving and caring about every person she met. Ann is survived by a daughter, Lisa (Dan) Cosgrove, of Clarendon Hills, Illinois, a son, Tad (Janet) Grover III, of Columbus, Ohio, grandchildren, Daniel Patrick (Allison) Cosgrove, of Hinsdale, Illinois, Kate (Alex) Florea, of Chicago, Illinois, Jessica (Tom) Steinbrink, of Worthington, Ohio, Ben Grover, of Columbus, Ohio, and four great-grandchildren, Lorelei Ann and Juliette Leisl Steinbrink of Worthington, Ohio, Gwendolyn Florea of Chicago, Illinois, and Charles Cosgrove of Hinsdale, Illinois. She is also survived by cousins, nieces and nephews, as well as many good friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Brandon Tad Grover, Jr., her parents, Alex Gleeson and Byrtle Officer, of Tennessee, and her sister, Rachel Cooper, of Florida.
Ann was born on June 21, 1931, in Sparta, Tennessee, and graduated from White County High School in 1949. She graduated from University of Kentucky with a degree in Home Economics. She moved to Athens to pursue a new job and met her husband, Tad, when she went to the Athens National Bank to open accounts. They were married in 1956.
Ann was involved In a number of community activities, including P.E.O. Chapter DD, First United Methodist Church, and The Athens County Foundation, among others. She was also active with Ohio University, being named an Honorary Alumna in 1998. She was involved in the OU chapter of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority and was an important part of the establishment of the Bingham House at Ohio University. She and Tad established a lecture series in the College of Health and Human Services at Ohio University and contributed to other university activities. She enjoyed going to the football and basketball games at OU. She enjoyed playing tennis for many years. Ann moved to Downer's Grove, Illinois, to be near her daughter, Lisa, and her family in 2019.
Ann will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. Thanks to Adolf Funeral and Cremation Services in Willowbrook, Illinois, for their services and care. Jagers and Sons Funeral Home in Athens, Ohio, is handling arrangements for an informal gathering time at their location on Friday, May 15, 2026 from 10 am to 12 pm., followed by a graveside ceremony at West Union Cemetery in Athens.
