Betty E. Daft Wakefield, age 93, of Athens, died late Thursday evening, June 14, 2018 at The Laurels of Athens. Born July 8, 1924 in Columbus, she was the daughter of the late Willard & Ila Knox Daft.

A graduate of Athens High School, she retired as a cook from the Athens Middle School after 25 years of service. She was a member of the Richland United Methodist Church. Her family, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the center of her life.

Betty is survived by her husband of 75 years, Robert H. Wakefield; a daughter, Linda Keffer of Athens; a son & daughter in law, Mike & Susan Wakefield of Athens; two grandchildren, Gwen (Scott) Brooks of Athens and Amy (Tony) Dicken of Athens; two great grandchildren, Mitchell & Sydney Dicken; a sister in law, Nancy Daft of Athens; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Theresa Turrill of Albany.

Besides her parents she is preceded in death by three brothers, Jack, Bob, and Vern Daft.

Funeral service will be conducted Tuesday 11:00 a.m. at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home with Pastor Denver Dodrill officiating. Burial will be in Alexander Cemetery, Hebbardsville.
