Carl Lynwood Savage, 90, was born in Chicago, IL on August 10, 1934 and died peacefully on September 7, 2024 in Athens, OH.
Carl was in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years, working as a Computer Systems Superintendent. During his time in the Air Force he served in Vietnam and moved with his family to many locations, including New York, Texas, Okinawa, California, and Virginia. He retired from the Air Force on July 31, 1975 as a Master Sergeant and soon began a career with Ohio University in Athens working as a Computer Analyst.
Carl was an active volunteer, giving his time to the Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, Hospice, and Athens Food Bank. He was a long- time active member of Christ Lutheran Church and a member of Athens Lions Club.
Carl was a loving father to four children, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Nancy Hall Savage, parents Robert and Mildred (Rekau), his brother Warren Savage and sister Leona Csokmay. He is survived by sons: Mark Savage, Carl (Rebecca) Savage, Michael (Lynn Cullison) Savage, and daughter Michelle (Steven) Schall; Grandchildren: Christina Beam, Amanda Schall, Tyler Savage and Grant Savage; and Great-Grandchildren: Skylar Whipkey, Audrey Beam, Jack Beam, and Luke Savage. He is also survived by his special friend, Theresa Boudreaux.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Lindley Inn for their kind and skillful care of Carl.
Service will be held at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 69 Mill St. in Athens on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at 2:00, with a reception following. Jagers & Sons Funeral Home is assisting the family.
