Carmen J Lorubbio of Athens, OH passed away on September 20, 2018 at his home with family.

Carmen was born in Youngstown, OH on April 1, 1936 and was the son of Francis and Carl Lorubbio. Carmen migrated to Athens, OH to pursue a golf scholarship at Ohio University in 1956. Upon graduation, Carmen remained a resident of Athens County serving 37 years in public education. Carmen had a passion for mentoring young people both personally and professionally over the course of his life time, profoundly touching countless lives.

Carmen was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. Steadfast in his decision to never get rattled, Carmen was always deploying his intelligence. He was an astute listener, always weighing his words to convey the absolute greatest meaning and sage advice.

After retirement Carmen and his wife Phyllis delighted in traveling and established residency in Naples, Florida. He relished in spending time with his family, playing golf, reading and walking his dog Bogey in the local parks.

Carmen is survived by his wife of 60 years, Phyllis Lorubbio; his two children, Carl and Christi Lorubbio; grandkids, Shawn and Rachel Bail, Zachary and Amber Hedrick, Jacob Hedrick, Audra Lorubbio, and Nicholas Lorubbio; great grandkids, Finn, Carmen, and Pippa Bail; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Carmen is preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Carl Lorubbio, and brother Frank Lorubbio.

Per Carmen's request no calling hours will be held. In lieu of flowers do as Carmen would do; spend time with your family, be a good person, and do something nice for someone else.
