Carolyn S. Crippen, age 73 of Athens, died early Thursday morning, Dec. 20, 2018 at OhioHealth O'Bleness Hospital, Athens. Born Sept. 30, 1945 in Athens County, she is the daughter of Martha Tucker Richardson of Athens and the late Robert Richardson.
A 1963 graduate of Athens High School, she had been employed at Arcadia Nursing Center in Coolville for several years, as a State Tested Nurse Aide. She was a member of the Layman's Home Missionary Movement and enjoyed painting and drawing.
Carolyn is survived by a daughter, Jennifer (Jerry) Smith of Guysville; a son, Kevin (Amanda) Mace of Stewart; a step daughter, Michele Doughman of London; six grandchildren, Kaitlin Mace (Nick), Hunter Smith, Lane Smith, Ian (Emily) Brookover, Tyler (Haylli) Smith and Hannah (Marcus) Smith; six great grandchildren, Kallie, Harper, Rayleigh, Cole, Gabby and Holden; two sisters, Mary (Danny) Mansfield of Guysville and Sally (Jim) Goff of Guysville.
Besides her father she is preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Gracelynn; a nephew, Michael Mansfield; and a sister, Martha Ann Richardson. Graveside service will be held Saturday, Dec. 22 nd at 2:00 p.m. at Clark's Chapel Cemetery, Athens, with Jon Hanning officiating.
