Catherine "Cathy" Lavenia Buck, 94, of Athens, died early Wednesday morning, July 19, 2023 at Kimes Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Athens.  Born Dec. 12, 1928 in Athens, she was the daughter of the late Thomas "Moon" Vercoe and Martha Estella Wingett Vercoe, and her step mother Anna Belle Vercoe.

A graduate of Shade High School, she attended Ohio University.  She was employed as an auditor at Hocking Valley Bank from 1967-1992.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Athens.

Cathy is survived by her daughter, Christy (Scott) Nisley of Athens; her son, Randy (Nancy) Buck of Seabrook Island, SC; five grandchildren, Stephanie Nisley, Lisa (Brett) Reckert, Andrew Nisley, Brittany Buck and James Buck; five great grandchildren, Emma and Collin More and Adalyn, Carter and Olivia Reckert.

Besides her parents and step mother, she is preceded in death by her husband, James R. Buck in 1980; a brother, James M. Vercoe; and an infant brother.

Funeral Service will be conducted Wednesday, July 26th at 2:00 p.m. at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens with Rev. Phil Ridenour officiating.  Burial will be in Athens Memory Gardens.  Friends may call Wednesday from 12:30 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home.  The family wants to extend their gratitude and appreciation to the staff of Kimes Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.  In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Shade Community Center, 2380 Old State Route 33, Shade Ohio 45776.  Please share a memory a note of condolence or sign the online register at www.jagersfuneralhome.com.
