David L. Ransom, age 61, formerly of Athens passed peacefully early Friday morning, Dec. 28, 2018 at his daughter's home in Vincent, OH. Born Dec. 25, 1957 in Akron, he was the son of the late Andy W. & Betty Chapman Ransom.
A 1976 graduate of Athens High School, he received his Bachelor's degree from Brigham Young University, Hawaii and his master's degree in Business Administration from Ohio University. He was an Associate Professor of Business at Hocking College. He had also worked at the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Columbus and Apex Computer Consultants in Jackson. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
David is survived by his wife of 38 years, Laurel Kinghorn Ransom; two daughter, Alyson (Sean) Shank of Vincent and Emma (Anthony) Adams of Thompson Station, TN; three sons, Aaron (Natalie) Ransom of Terra Haute, IN, Benjamin Ransom of Fayetteville, NC, and Jayden Ransom of Thompson Station, TN; three children who were important to David, Josiah, Gaige and Lily; seven grandchildren, Piper & Maggie Shank, Liam & Landon Adams, and Charlotte, Caroline & Eleanor Ransom; three sisters, Sandra Stoklosa, Sherlyn Ransom and Rena Ransom all of Athens; two brothers, Andy W. (Sheri) Ransom, Jr. of Athens and George H. (Beth) Ransom of Tucson, AZ.
Besides his parents he is preceded in death by a sister, Susan Leon-Guerrero.
Funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, Jan. 1 st at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 7795 Lemaster Rd., The Plains, OH 45780. Friends may call Monday at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens from 5-7 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral on Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016.
