Derek Lee Boals age 37 of Athens died early Wednesday morning, June 27, 2018 at O'Bleness Memorial Hospital.  He was the son of Donald Lee Hudnell and the late Joy Boals. He was born May 18, 1981 at O'Bleness Memorial Hospital.

Derek attended Beacon School and took music lessons for twenty years. He played the banjo. He belonged to Passion Works and Atco.  He is survived by his father, Donald Lee Hudnell, one half-sister-Michelle Khatri of Florida and one half-brother, Anthony Lonas of the Plains.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Joy Boals, his maternal grandparents Mildred and Tom Salyers, his paternal grandparents, Mildred and Charles Hudnell.

Graveside Services will be held Friday, June 29, 2018 at 2 pm at McDougal cemetery with Rev. Phil Foster officiating.
