Donna Jo Parsons, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2026, in Sun City Center, Florida, at the age of 83.

Jo was born on October 22, 1942, in New Philadelphia, Ohio, to Paul E. and Donna M. Brown. When she was very young, her family moved to Athens, Ohio, and later to Millfield, where she grew up and graduated from Athens High School. As a student, Jo served as one of three head majorettes of the Athens High School Band. Her connection to the band continued years later as an active supporter of the Athens High School Band Boosters.

Jo lived in Ohio until moving to Tampa, Florida, in 1980. In 2003, she returned to Ohio to help care for her father following the death of her mother. In May 2022, she moved back to Florida to be closer to her daughter and family.

Jo will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor, her lifelong friendships, and the special bonds she shared with her cousins and extended family. To her family, she was also their historian, the keeper of family stories and memories, the one who remembered birthdays and anniversaries, and the person who made sure the important moments and people in their lives were never forgotten.

Above all, Jo cherished her family and the people she loved. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, and her warmth, humor, and devotion to those around her will be deeply missed.

Jo is survived by her children, Brian Parsons (Bunny) of Fort Myers, Florida; Leeanne Parsons-Smith (Christopher) of Wimauma, Florida; and Thomas Parsons (Michael) of Cleveland, Ohio; her brothers, Robert Brown of Zephyrhills, Florida, and Paul Brown Jr. of Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania; her sister-in-law, Kathy Brown of Zephyrhills, Florida; her grandchildren, Elizabeth Hall (Brad), Thomas McKinley Parsons (Brynn), Sydney Spencer (Caleb), Samuel Parsons, and Charlotte Parsons (Darian); four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul E. and Donna M. Brown, her former husband, Paul Parsons and granddaughter Cassie Egan.

Jo leaves behind a family that loved her deeply, countless memories, and stories that will continue to be told for generations to come.

A memorial service will be held October 24, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens, with Rev. Robbie Scott officiating. Interment of ashes will be in West Union St. Cemetery.
