Dorothy "Dottie" L. Dinsmoor Doughty, age 93, was born April 9, 1927 in Athens and passed away Jan. 21, 2021 at The Laurels of Athens.  She was the daughter of the late Floyd Dinsmoor and Audrey Beal Dinsmoor.

Dottie attended Mechanicsburg school on Richland Avenue.  She moved to Columbus in 1942 and married James Doughty who passed away in 2005.  While in Columbus she was employed at Mt. Carmel Hospital and Tonti Reality Company.  She returned to Athens in 1958.  She was employed by the State of Ohio Board of Education at the Morrison school and for thirty-five years was Secretary of her husband's pharmaceutical companies home office business.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church and Daughters of the American Revolution.  She volunteered at the church, also the Athens Senior Citizens Center and the Morrison school library.  She was a Cub Scout leader, Den Mother and Brownie Leader.

Dottie loved her children more than anything on Earth.  She is survived by her daughter, Linda Doughty Harrah of Albany; her sons, Michael Doughty of Athens and Kevin Doughty of Albany; ten grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren; a brother, Jim Dinsmoor of Obetz; two cousins. Anita Robinson Breeze of Lancaster and Sally Robinson Koehler of Clinton; and a special friend, R.K.
