Edgar Arthur Hurst, age 92, of Nelsonville, died Nov. 10, 2023 at The Embassy of Logan.  He was a former resident of the Athens and The Plains.  Born Dec. 24, 1930, in Columbus, he was the son of the late Orland Luther Hurst and Almeda Rathburn Hurst.

Edgar worked as a union carpenter for thirty-five years and eighteen years as a retail clerk at Kroger in Athens.  He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

He is survived by his seven children, Patricia Ann, Wilhelm Edgar, Shiela Jane, Phillis Arliena, Terisa Lou, Leisa Sue, and Cinthia Jean; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; a special nephew Keith (Christy) Young and his family; and a special friend Wyona "Onie" Puckett.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Henry Eugene Hurst and three wives, Donna Jean, Bonieta Jean, and Tharon Pearl Hurst.

Graveside service will be conducted Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Athens Memory Gardens.  Military Rites will be conducted by K.T.
