Eric Hedin, 64, of Athens, Ohio, died April 11, 2024, while teaching his students at the distillery at Hocking College. Eric passed while doing one of the things he loved most, sharing knowledge about brewing.

He was born on December 8, 1959, to Rosemary and Vernon Hedin in Ferndale, Michigan.  He and his wife, Denise Beveridge, raised their two children, Erika and Billy, in Athens, Ohio.

Eric attended Hocking College for nursing and worked for years providing care for others.

In 2002 he opened the Athens Do It Yourself Shop where he sold brewing supplies and taught others how to make their own beer and wine. He was well known for hosting his annual Homebrew Competitions.

He loved fishing trips, going to concerts, listening to music, and his dog, Zander.

Eric lived large and never knew a stranger. He leaves behind many friends and he will be sorely missed.

Eric is survived by his spouse, Denise, children, Erika and Billy, and siblings, Karen Schneider, Sven Hedin, and Lise Mitchell as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, David and Janet.
