Frederick Lee (Fred) Cunningham, age 84 of Chauncey died August 13, 2018 at Arthur James Hospital, Columbus, Ohio. He was born October 16, 1933 in Coal Hollow, Chauncey, Ohio to the late Hollis B. and Dorothy Ferrel Cunnigham.
He graduated from Chauncey Dover High School in the Class of 1951. He retired from the Southern Ohio Coal Company mine #31 after many years of service.
He was a member of Athens VFW Post #3477, Chauncey Am Vets Post #53, and American Legion K.T. Crossen Post #21. He served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict as a 1 st class Machinist Mate.
Fred is survived by his wife of sixty years, Patricia, a daughter, Susan (Randy) Wolfe of Athens, Ohio and a son Steve of Chauncey, Ohio, two granddaughters, Emily Wolfe of Athens, Ohio, Allyson Cunningham of Chauncey, Ohio, and a grandson, Luke Cunningham of Chauncey, Ohio. He is also survived by a brother, Dean (Sylvia) Cunningham of Athens, sisters-in-law Esther Cunningham of Jacksonville, Ohio, Winnie Cunningham of Glouster, Ohio, Mary Brooks of Logan, Ohio, Ruth Cunningham of Winter Haven, Florida and a brother-in-law, Paul Williams, Georgia; brothers-in- law and sisters-in-law, Pete and Barb Evener and Dave and Jane Nogrady of Chauncey, Ohio, several nieces and nephews, including special nephews, Mike, Matthew, and Mark Cunningham. He is also survived by special friends John and Gay Campbell of Chauncey, Ohio and his cat Tommie.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Lisa Ann, a daughter-in-law Carol, two sisters, Jane Pancake and Sharon Williams, six brothers, Jack, Jimmy, Terry, Robert, Duke, and David, a sister-in-law, Betty Cunningham, and a brother-in-law, Charles Pancake.
Per Fred's wishes, no calling hours or service will be held. Cremation has taken place.
