Goldie Jeanette Pires, age 72 of The Plains, Ohio, passed away early Tuesday morning, January 22, 2019 at Marietta Memorial Hospital, Marietta. Born November 24, 1946 in Athens County, she is the daughter of Marjorie Kennedy Tabler of Joy and the late Eugene A. "Jimmy" Tabler.

She retired from the State of Ohio, Department of Corrections.

In addition to her mother, Goldie is survived by three brothers, Raymond (Cynthia) Tabler, Randy R. Tabler and Jamie (Donna) Tabler; four grandchildren, Brandon Wooton, Kiara Pires, Kiya-Shea Pires and Kennedy Pires; three great grandchildren, Cruz Wooton, Dacarai Stickel, Keeley Stickel and one great grandchild on the way;  also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Besides her father, Goldie is preceded in death by her only son, Patrick Wayne Pires, Jr.; and two nephews, John Ray Tabler and Brent Andrew Tabler.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, January 26 ^th at 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Hermon Cemetery, Bern Township with Pastor Steve Heskett officiating.  At Goldie's request, there will be no calling hours.  Arrangements are with Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens.
