Obituary

Gwyn Norris Scott, 64, of Athens, passed away Monday, May 4, 2026, at her home surrounded by the love of her family.  She was born June 27, 1961, in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania.

She was preceded in death by her father, Gordon Norris. She is survived by her loving husband, Kent Scott; her mother and stepfather, Mary Jane and Roger Jones; stepmother Judy Norris; her children, Matthew Scott (Kelly) and their children, Cohen, Myles, and Madison; Lindsey Lechner (Buddy); Benjamin Scott (Kavya); and Taylor Scott. She is also survived by her siblings, Mark Norris, Beth Pfiefer (Scott), Eric Norris (Tracy), Harvey Norris (Kathy) and Ashley Weigand (James).

Gwyn graduated from high school in Springfield, Ohio, and went on to build a remarkable career in the culinary arts spanning more than 48 years. She dedicated 34 years of service to Ohio University, where she retired in 2024 as Associate Vice President of Auxiliaries. Her professionalism, leadership, and work ethic left a lasting impact on colleagues and the university community. Gwyn was an intelligent and accomplished businesswoman whose strength and determination were evident in all she did.

Above all, she was devoted to her family. She expressed her love daily through her care, thoughtfulness, and unwavering presence in their lives. Gwyn held herself and others to high standards, leading with integrity, independence, and keen attention to detail. A respected role model both at home and at work, she will forever be remembered for her kindness, strength, guidance, and for the many ways she supported and uplifted those she loved.

Her legacy of love, dedication, and strength will live on in all who knew her.

Family and friends may call Friday, May 15, 2026 at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, 24 Morris Ave., Athens from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, May 15th at 1:00 p.m. at St. Paul's Catholic Church, 38 College St., Athens with Father Jeremiah Hahn as celebrant.
