Herman R. Stewart, 78, of The Plains, Ohio died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2018 at OhioHealth O'Bleness Hospital. He was born Sept. 4, 1940 and was the son of the late Joseph and Esther Stevens Stewart. He graduated in the class of 1958 at Logan High School and served in the Army in the Korean Conflict. He was a retired salesman and attended Haga Mission Church.

Herman is survived by his daughter, Christine Ziegler; grandchildren, Latasha Chubb, David Herron and Tiffani Herron; a number of great grandchildren; one great, great grandchild; Also surviving are three sisters, Mary Jo Whetzel, Nancy Stewart Mason, and Pamela Stewart; three brothers, Roger (Mary) Stewart, Jeff Stewart, and Michael (Melanie) Stewart; a special niece Rachael Curtis, and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Madge Butcher Stewart in 2015; four sisters, Wilma Viney, Charlotte (Guy) Edwards, Patricia Gleaves, and Denise Stewart; and a brother, Joseph Stewart.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens, Ohio, conducted by Pastor Stan West. Friends may call Sunday 2-4 p.m. and Monday from 11 a.m. until time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Athens Memory Gardens. Military Rites will be conducted by K.T.
