Jack Lee Wolfe, age 82, of Athens died Monday, May 7, 2018 at OhioHealth O'Bleness Hospital. Born Aug. 14, 1935 in Athens County, he was the son of the late Irwin A. & Royal Hixson Wolfe.
A 1954 graduate of Athens High School, he attended Ohio University. He was the owner and operator of an oil production business. He was the former distributor, in Athens, of the following publications: Columbus Dispatch, New York Times and Wall St. Journal. He was a member of Paramuthia Lodge 25 F&AM, Scottish Rite, Aladdin Temple Shrine, Athens Co. Shrine Club, Floyd Bolin Post 3477 VFW and Glenford Dugan Post 229 American Legion. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
Jack is survived by his wife, Bessie Bailey Wolfe; two sons and daughters in law, Brad & Martha Wolfe of Denver, Colorado and Brian & Corinne Wolfe of Huntersville, N.C.; a grandson, Gunnar Wolfe of Huntersville, N.C.; and a sister & her husband, Dixie & Jeff Davis of New Mexico.
Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by an infant brother, Allen Wolfe. A graveside memorial service will be held at W. Union St. Cemetery, Athens on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Bill O'Brien officiating. No calling hours will be observed. Arrangements are with Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens.
Military Rites will be conducted by K.T. Crossen Post 21 American Legion and Albany VFW Post 9893 at the cemetery.
