Jan Marie Tabler, age 63 of Athens died unexpectantly, Thursday Nov. 1, 2018 at OhioHealth O'Bleness Hospital, Athens. Born Feb. 10, 1955 in Athens, she was the daughter of the late Naomi K. Jenkins Goins.

A 1974 graduate of Federal Hocking High School, she was employed for 29 years at the Hocking Correctional Facility, in Nelsonville as a Corrections Officer.  She was preparing for her retirement in July 2019.  She had also been employed at Ohio University.  Her life was all about her sons, her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She was the "Best Mom in the Whole World".  She was the sweetest person, always concerned about and caring for others.

Jan is survived by her two sons, Jason (Jodie) Tabler of Athens and Corey (Tara) Tabler of Stewart; nine grandchildren,  Darian Tabler, Torey Tabler, Mason Tabler, Elexus Tabler, Adriona Tabler, Madison Tabler, Lamaur Buck, Quincey Tabler and Kamyrn Riley; three great grandchildren, Nylah, Rylan, and Avienn Tabler; a sister, Sherry (Delmar) Walker of Stewart; two brothers, Darrell (Yvonne) Jenkins of Kilvert and Mark Goins of Athens; an aunt, Darlene Singer of Kilvert; and an uncle Willie Jenkins of Chesterhill.

Besides her mother, she is preceded in death by her son, Brent Tabler in 1988.  Funeral service will be conducted Tuesday 1:00 p.m. at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, 24 Morris Ave., Athens, OH 45701 with Pastor Junior Walker officiating.  Burial will be in Mt.
