Juanita Violet Young, age 90, of The Plains died late Sunday evening, April 13, 2025 at The Laurels of Athens.  Born November 19, 1934 in Waterloo Township, near Nelsonville, she was the daughter of the late David Lee Jones and Mary "Genevieve" Stover Jones.

She attended The Plains High School and was a lifelong Athens County resident.  She was a homemaker in the family home and raised many foster children in addition to her daughter, step-children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Juanita is survived by grandchildren; great grandchildren; great, great  grandchildren; a sister, Evelyn Brooks of The Plains; a sister in law, Sharon Jones of Athens; and a nephew and nieces.

Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Gilkey; her second husband, John Young; a daughter, Rita Jones; a step-daughter, Beverly Green; a great granddaughter, Stephanie Call; a great, great grandson, Aiden Huerta; two brothers, Paul Jones and Robert Jones; her brother in law, Pearl "Tubb" Brooks; and a nephew, Jeffery Jones.
