Julie Beth Brooks, 59, Pomeroy, passed away on Friday, June 15, at St. Mary's Hospital, Huntington, WV after a brief illness. Born on July 1, 1958 in Athens, Julie was the daughter of Willard (Bill) and Elsie Stright Brooks. She was a graduate of Alexander High School and Tri-County Adult Career Center Cosmetology program.
She was a lifelong horse lover and enjoyed riding on the farm where she grew up near New Marshfield. She liked to read books, write letters and listen to Bluegrass and country music. She attended various churches and was quick to tell others how much they needed Christ in their lives.
Julie is survived by sons Jerry (Tonia) Dishong, Coolville; Jay (Julie) Riley, Delaware, OH; Cody Richards, Columbus ; Chad Stanley, Pomeroy and six grandchildren, Grafton and Nora Riley and Daniel, Kaleb, Jherica and Ezra Dishong; siblings Randy Brooks, Parkersburg, WV; Suzanne (Bill) McClure and Eric (Jackie) Brooks, New Marshfield; Greg (Carol) Brooks, Hillsborough, NC; Jennifer (Steve) Eckard, Raleigh, NC; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She also leaves behind her special friends, Bill Hawk and Chris Capehart and her cat, Patches. Besides her parents, Julie was preceded in death by a sister, Lora Brooks.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, June 20th, from 12:00pm-1:00pm at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens with services, conducted by Pastor Willard Love, held at 1:00pm. Julie will be cremated. Burial of her and her sister Lora's ashes will take place at the New Marshfield Cemetery at a later date.
