Kathaleen "Katie" Grimes, age 93, of Athens died Friday morning, Oct. 26, 2018 at The Laurels of Athens. Born Oct. 11, 1925 in Athens County, she was the daughter of the late Harley & Nellie McClain Williams.

She was a 1942 graduate of Shade High School (where she attended a one room school) and attended Ohio University.  She was employed at Woolworth's and retired from the Athens City School System as a cook at East Elementary School.  She and her late husband owned and operated Ohio Cleaners on Court St. for several years.  She was the oldest living member of the First Church of God, Athens, joining the church in 1932.  She enjoyed quilting, hummingbirds, and growing her roses.

Katie is survived by her son & daughter in law, Sidney & Mika Grimes of Guysville; two granddaughters and their husbands, Cynthia & James Saunders of Pickerington and Mary K. & Daniel Barnett of Guysville; two great grandchildren, Camdyn Saunders and Logan Barnett; and a sister, Virginia Grubbs of Athens.

Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Eldred K. Grimes in 2005; and an infant son, Gary Grimes.  Funeral service will be conducted Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens with Rev.
