Larry
Guy
Oct 7, 1959 — Aug 5, 2018
Athens
James Lawrence Guy, "Larry" passed away unexpectedly on August 5, 2018 at the age of 58. He will be lovingly remembered by many family members and friends, including his wife, Lesli, his sons Alan (Courtney) and Aaron (Erin) and stepson Matthew, as well as his parents, Robert and Ann Guy and his sisters, Kathy (Jim) Stanley and Deborah Guy.
Born in Annapolis, MD, Larry lived most of his life in Ohio. He worked for thirty-three years at Nationwide Insurance. He has lived in Athens for the past eight years and worked at Ohio Health. Larry was an avid fan of all things in motion. He was an amateur racer with the Sports Car Club of America where he ran a 1989 Toyota Corolla GTS. He was an avid fan of the Indy Car, Grand Am, and Formula One racing series. He spent many weekends with his sons at Mid Ohio Sports Car Course. He loved skiing and soccer and cursed at his share of golf balls. His most recent passion was bicycling. He completed a 100 mile bike ride the day before he passed and was an active member of Athens Bike Club and the biking community. He enjoyed all kinds of music, particularly rock and jazz, anything but country.
Larry will be best remembered as a great friend, a caring father and a loving husband. He enjoyed a good joke or prank, even if it was on him. He gifted his children with a love of fellowship, fast cars, soccer, good music, morbid humor, cats, dogs, and the ability to drive a standard transmission. He lived life fully and embraced whatever came his way.
