Leo E. Coen Sr., age 85, of Albany, passed away peacefully Friday morning July 6, 2018 at his home. Born Oct. 20, 1932 in Rome Township, Athens County, he was the son of the late Kenneth W. & Bessie Lonas Coen.
He attended Rome Canaan School and retired after 26½ years from the Ohio Department of Transportation. He had been employed at Midget Motors, and Diamond Stone Quarry. He was a member of the Columbia Chapel Church of Christ and attended Athens Church of Christ. Leo loved his family. He enjoyed spending time and talking with them. He also enjoyed farming, hunting, watching and participating in the Tractor Pulls at the Albany Independent Fair.
Leo is survived by his wife of 61 years, Edna Beatty Coen; two daughters, Joyce Clevenger & her special friend, Todd, and Cathy (Mike) Bobo both of Albany; two sons, Michael Coen & his girlfriend, Avonelle Sollars and Leo "Jay" (Angel) Coen, Jr. both of Albany; eight grandchildren, Kristipher Michael Coen, Kenneth Coen, Andrea (Doug) Sprague, David Tyler (Lisa Prince) Bobo, Zachery Bobo, Janesa Coen & her fiancé, Tony Bishop, Kody Coen and Adam Coen; three great grandchildren, Michael Stephen Coen, Kristipher Michael Coen, Jr. and Brody Jaxon Sprague; four sisters, Eva Llewellyn of The Plains, Gladys Keirns of Albany, Virginia Chutes of Coolville and Linda (David) Powell of Stewart; five brothers, Edward Coen of Albany, Earl (Betty) Coen of Stewart, Pearl Coen of Stewart, Danny (Lona) Coen of Athens and Joe Coen of Cutler; also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Special thanks to his care givers, Amber Conley, Gracie Hall, Dana Sinift, Haida Coen, Brandi Yocum and Debra Pollard.
Besides his parents he is preceded in death by a great grandson, Kaydin Bishop; a sister, Bernice Coen; a brother, Francis Coen; and two infant brothers, Ralph & Robert Coen.
Funeral service will be conducted Monday 1:00 p.m. at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens, officiated by Willard Love, Minister. Friends may call Sunday 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Alexander Cemetery, Hebbardsville.
