Obituary

Lester Rolland Faires, age 86, of Athens formerly of Glouster passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus.  Born on Sunday, Aug. 25, 1935 in Athens, he was the son of the late Lester R. Faires and Helen Stephenson Faires.

Rolland was raised in Glouster and was a 1953 graduate of Glouster High School.  He was a U.S. Army Veteran.  He was a member of K.T. Crossen Post 21 American Legion, Athens AMVETS Post 76, and Trimble Local Textbook Foundation.

Lester spent most of his working years at Bridgewater, Abex, and Athens Mold and Machine.  He was a proud member of the United Auto Workers.

Lester is survived by his longtime companion, Pat Faires; three sons, L.R. Faires of Glouster, Eric (Robin) Faires of Glouster and Darrin (Tammy) Faires of Athens; a sister, Jane Schoenian of Glouster; seven grandchildren, Charles Faires, Kristen Cain, Elizabeth Redman, Gabrielle Faires, Abigail Faires, Darrin Faires and Brooks Faires; three great grandchildren; the mother of his children, Patricia J. Faires of Glouster; several nieces and nephews; a special friend, Ron Jonas of Dayton; and his special buddy, Leonard the cat.

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, JoLavon Alderman; a great grandchild; and his beloved dog Travis.

Graveside service will be conducted Sept. 13 th at 1:00 p.m. at Maplewood Cemetery, Glouster.  Friends may call Sept. 13 th 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens.  Military Rites will be conducted by the Combined Color Guard at the cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trimble Textbook and Supplies Foundation, c/o Sandy Gyure, P.O. Box 187, Glouster, OH 45732.
