Linda Wakefield Keffer, age 76 of Athens died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2023 at Kimes Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Athens.  Born May 10, 1947 in Athens, she was the daughter of the late Robert H. Wakefield and Betty E. Daft Wakefield.

A 1965 graduate of Athens High School, she received her bachelor's degree in education from Ohio University in 1968.  She was a school teacher and taught 2nd Grade at Chauncey Elementary School for two years, and for thirty three years taught 4th and 6th grade at the Alexander School System.  She was a partner in Paulinda's Small World on Court St. from 1978 to 1981.  She was a member of the Athens Senior Citizens and enjoyed bus trips with the group.  She cherished her weekly lunches and time spent with her close friends.  She also enjoyed her pet cats.

Linda is survived by two daughters, Gwen (Scott) Brooks of Athens and Amy (Tony) Dicken of Sellersburg, Indiana; four grandchildren, Mitchell Dicken, Sydney Dicken, Shay Brooks and Seth Brooks; and a brother and sister in law, Mike & Susan Wakefield of Athens.  She is also survived by several close cousins and many close friends.

Funeral service will be conducted Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens with burial in Alexander Cemetery.  Friends may call Wednesday 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alexander Future Foundation, PO Box 204, Albany, OH 45710 or OhioHealth Home Care and Hospice, 444 W.
