Luta Ellen Carsey, 95, of Athens died Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at Kimes Convalescent Center. She was born in Athens on February 14, 1923, daughter of the late Herbert H. and Hazel Buck Burke.

She was a housewife and retired from Ohio University where she worked in the Communications Office.

She was a long time member of Vore Ridge Community Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Russell Brian Carsey Jr., her sisters, Edna Blair, Doris Bacus, a brother, Thomas Burke, and a son-in-law Michael Stanley.

Luta is survived by her daughters: Judy (Jim) Deardorff of Albany, Cheryl (Edward) Lee of Dunbar, WVA. Pamela Stanley of New Marshfield, grandchildren: Gail (Doug) Clay of Springfield, MO, Cammie ( Eric) Lindner of Albany, Mathew (Laura) Lee of Brunswick, GA., Alicia (Scott Polston) of Indiana, Leslie Horton of Zanesville, OH, Todd Stanley of Phoenix, AZ.

Luta has 10 great grandchildren, 7 great, great grandchildren, and a special niece, Tammy Shields of Albany.

Calling hours will be Sunday, July 1, 2018 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Jagers and Sons Funeral Home, Athens, OH with the funeral service following at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Carl Radcliff officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens, Athens, OH.
