Patricia J. "Pat" Moorehead, age 86, of Athens, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 after a brief stay at Kimes Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Athens, surrounded by her family.
Born Sept. 30, 1931 in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Eugene McCarthy and Irma Goss McCarthy. As a teenager, she modeled wedding dresses at Macy's in New York. Pat moved to Nelsonville her senior year of high school and graduated from Nelsonville H.S. with the class of 1945. She was a member of the first graduating class of the Nursing School at Hocking Technical School. She was a Registered Nurse at O'Bleness Memorial Hospital and the Athens Mental Health Center. Pat also worked in pediatrics at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital, Nelsonville while her husband served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
She was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, Catholic Ladies Club and the Catholic Ladies of Columbia. She was a wonderful wife and mother
Pat was the mother of five children, Bill (Deb) Moorehead of Wooster, Rosemary Snell of Gallipolis, Pam "PJ" (Scott) Mong of Logan, David (Nicole Conrath) Moorehead of Athens and the late Daniel Moorehead. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Rachel, Sharra, Richard, Laura, Matt, Ashley, Eva, Ellie and Kioni; ten great grandchildren, Barrett, Maggie, Andromeda, Will, Lily, Harper, Billy, Bobby, Lucas and Crixus.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, William "Bill" Moorehead; an infant child, Daniel Moorehead; and a great granddaughter, Riley Lynn Mong.
Funeral service will be conducted Saturday 1:00 p.m. at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens, with Father Mark Moore officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Athens. Friends may call Saturday 11:00 a.m. until time of service. Catholic Ladies of Columbia will hold services at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of donor's choice or Hospice of Kimes, 65 Kimes Lane, Athens, OH 45701.
