Paulette Payne, age 71, formerly of Ironton, passed away Thursday evening, July 11, 2019 at The Laurels of Athens. Born Oct. 6, 1947 in Ironton, she was the daughter of the late Oscar Chester Heaberlin and Gertrude "Bette" (White) Heaberlin.

A 1966 graduate of Rock Hill High School, she spent her career employed as an assembly line worker in Columbus.  She was a former resident of Columbus and had been living in Athens for three years.  She enjoyed her favorite television shows, watching movies, spending time with her family and trying new foods.

Paulette is survived by her son and his partner, Robert A. Payne and Mary Swain; a granddaughter, Chloe Payne and a grandson, Smith Payne; a sister, Peg (Wade) Dyer of Wheelersburg; two brothers, Rick (Jolinda) Heaberlin of Ironton and Kerry (Kathy) Heaberlin of Ironton. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Payne on Feb. 8, 2016; and a sister and brother in law, Kathy and Doug Lawless.

A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, July 17 ^th at 3:00 p.m. at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, 24 Morris Ave., Athens, with Pastor Butch Deer officiating.  Friends may call Wednesday 1-3 p.m. at the funeral home.  Cremation will follow the services.  Please share a memory, a note of condolence or sign the online register book at www.jagersfuneralhome.com.
