Obituary

Phyllis Eloise Whaley, age 79 of Shade, passed away Tuesday morning, July 2, 2019 at her home. Born July 20, 1939 in Portland, she was the daughter of the late John Wesley Lawson and Olive Naomi Gluesoncamp Lawson.

She attended Racine schools and was a homemaker in the family home.  She was a longtime resident of Shade.

Phyllis is survived by a daughter, Barbara Stiffler of Athens; five sons, Charles E. Whaley of Athens, Gerald W. "Gig" Whaley of Germany, Franklin E. Whaley of Athens, Larry S. (Faye) Whaley of Olive Hill, KY and Paul D. (Connie) Whaley of Athens; many grandchildren including two special grandchildren, Rebekah Whaley and Travis Stiffler; many great grandchildren; and many great, great grandchildren; a sister, Ruby Congo of Middleport; and a brother, Albert (Sue) Lawson of Long Bottom.

Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Victor Whaley in 2004; a son, Kenneth Lee Whaley; two sisters, Daisy VanMeter and Wilma Helwigy; five brothers, Delbert, Charles R. , Dale, Glen and Robert Lawson.

Funeral service will be conducted Friday, July 5 th at 1:00 p.m. at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens, with Rev. Wayne Dunlap officiating.  Burial will be in Burlingham Cemetery, Bedford Twp., Meigs Co.
