Richard Alan Guder, 77, of Athens passed away Monday evening, September 10, 2018.

He served in the Air Force from 1963 to 1967, and then earned a Bachelor's degree in Social Work and a Master's in Education, emphasis in Secondary School Guidance and Counseling, both from Ohio University. Remaining in the area, he worked at the Athens Mental Health Center, from which he retired as Assistant Superintendent in 1993.

He was active in the community as a member of Kiwanis and volunteered at O'Bleness Hospital for over 15 years. He was an avid traveler, always happy to share stories of his adventures.

He is survived by his sons, Christopher (Kelly) and Jason (Emily), siblings Carol Hunt and Rhea Schuster, and grandchild Lily.
