Obituary

Roy Flem Clonch, Sr., age 82, of Jackson formerly of Athens and Shade, died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2018 at the Belpre Campus of Marietta Memorial Hospital. Born Sept. 15, 1936 in Rutland, he was the son of the late William Alexander & Beulah Long Clonch.

He attended Shade High School, and was a welder.  He had been employed with Bridgewater, Abex, Goodyear and Meigs Mine 31.  He was a member of the United Mine Workers.  He enjoyed his grandchildren and gardening.  He also enjoyed making homemade furniture, homemade wine and beer and homemade knives.  He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Germany.

Roy is survived by a daughter, Crystal Clonch of Georgia; two sons, Roy (Sandy) Clonch, Jr. of Athens and Jason Clonch of Ft. Myers, Fla.; two step daughters, Sonja (Jim) George of Albany and Christy (John) Johnston of Jackson; a step son, Ronald (Lori) Cooley of Navarre; thirteen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Pearl Carsey of Michigan and Mary Lou Whaley of Middleport; and his previous wife, Juinietta Jeffers Clonch of Ft. Myers, Fla.

Besides his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Elaine Lenigar Clonch in 2017; an infant sister; a sister, Helen Dowler; and two brothers, Morton Clonch and Bill "Dale" Clonch.
