Ruth Jean Cunningham, age 90, of The Plains died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2019 at Grant Medical Center, Columbus.  Born June 14, 1928 in Athens, she was the daughter of the late Pearl & Jane McWilliams Evans.

A 1946 graduate of Athens High School, she had been employed at Woolworth's, Lawhead Press, and McBee's Corporation in the finishing room.

Ruth is survived by her daughter, Sue Ann Wriston of Columbus; her granddaughter, Amanda Williams of Columbus; three great grandchildren, Carolyn Kay Walker, P.J. Walker, and Darnell Walker; three nephews, David (Alice) Staten of Illinois, Ron (Susan) Cartwright of Columbus and Gary (Myra) Cartwright of Millfield; a sister in law, Jo Ann Barnhart of North Carolina; a brother in law, James Cunningham of Chauncey; and a special friend, Lori Hudnell of The Plains.

Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, William Cunningham in 1982; and two sisters, Violet Staten and Florence Cartwright.
