Dailey
Sep 5, 1957 — Aug 31, 2023
Athens
Scott William Dailey, age 65, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.
Scott was born on September 5, 1957, to Chuck and Shirley (Streets) Dailey in Athens, Ohio. He graduated from Athens High School in 1976, excelling in baseball and basketball. To honor his athletic skills, Scott was inducted into the AHS Athletic Hall of Fame. Scott graduated from Ohio University with a B.A. in Business/Advertising and an M.A. in Sports Business and Administration. While at Ohio University, he was also a member of the Bobcat baseball team as a pitcher. Upon graduation, he began working in the OU Athletics Business Office and retired in November 2011.
After retirement, he joined his dad, Chuck Dailey, at WATH radio, where he was a DJ, Sales Manager, and host of Sentimental Journey for 11 years. Most recently, he was a radio host with TMCR Broadcasting at WAIS/WSEO where he joyfully worked alongside his two special friends, Thom and Marianne Williams.
Scott is preceded in death by his father, Chuck Dailey, Sr; his grandparents, Earl and Mabel Dailey, Eva and Gilbert Ator, and William Streets; his aunt and uncle Rose (Dailey) Chambers and Don Chambers.
He is survived by his mother, Shirley Dailey; his brothers, Chuck Dailey, Jr (Teresa) and Larry Dailey (Redina); his nieces, Becca (Zach) Coffin and Liz (Greg) Poston; his great-nieces, Annalee and Iyla Coffin; his great-nephew, Reed Poston; several special aunts, and uncles, special cousins, many long time friends.
Scott was a kind, compassionate, and loving son, brother, friend, and uncle. He had a wonderful sense of humor, contagious laughter, and persistent optimism. With love and conviction, Scott shared his Christian faith with anyone. Scott was a long-time member of the Athens Church of Christ, where he frequently led devotionals. As a son of a veteran, he was also a member of the Sons of the American Legion. An avid baseball and football fan, Scott enjoyed playing softball with friends and cheering for the Cincinnati Reds, Ohio State, and the Cincinnati Bengals. Scott loved our pets and was known to spoil them with treats.
