Susan Lanore Sams, age 61 of Albany, died Saturday afternoon, Dec. 29, 2018 at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus. Born Aug. 21, 1957 in Parkersburg, WV, she is the daughter of Janet G. Cowman Lipscomb of Belpre and the late John R. Lipscomb.

A 1975 graduate of Warren High School, she was a homemaker in the family.  She enjoyed her family, her grandchildren and taking care of her home.

Susan is survived by her husband of 42 years, Ralph O. Sams III; three daughters, Stacy (Emory) Shephard of Lancaster, Janet Sams of Little Hocking and Erica (Justin) Swart of Albany; two sons, Ralph O. (Allison) Sams IV of Amanda and Robert (Angela) Sams of Oak Hill; eleven grandchildren, Emory Shephard, Ashley (Chris) Norris, Braden Shephard, Rylan Sams, Keaton Shephard, Emily Shephard, Daelyn Sams, Cameron Swart, Evan Swart, Brennen Swart, and Ralph O. Sams V; a great granddaughter, Averley Norris; three sisters, Rhonda (Jeff) Sargent of Belpre, Lou (Phillip) Sargent of Cutler and Lori McNabb of Belpre; a brother, Mike (Sue) Lipscomb of Cutler; her father & mother in law, Ralph O. & Wilma Sams, Jr. of Parkersburg, WV; a sister in law, Diane (John) Romine of Parkersburg, WV; a brother in law, Raymond (Mike) Sams of Belleville, WV; also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Besides her father, she is preceded in death by two sisters, Judy Watson and Becky Jackson.

Funeral service will be conducted Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens with burial in Athens Memory Gardens.  Rev.
