Obituary

Victor Allen Weekley, age 94 of Ft. Myers, FL, passed away Wednesday night May 24, 2023 at his residence in Crystal Lakes, Ft. Myers, FL.  Born August 20, 1928 in Calhoun County, WV, he was the son of the late Phillip Edward & Della Florence Sears Weekley.

Victor was married to Bernice Helena (Gaston) Weekley.  They raised three children, Victoria Lea Weekley Ervin, Dennis Allen Weekley, and Pamela Sue Weekley Staley.  After Helena's passing, Victor was remarried to Gloria Weeks Weekley.

He was a graduate of Chauncey-Dover High School where he played football and baseball.  He lived in Athens until his retirement in 1978 after 22 years at Abex, Corp.  He started at Abex, Corp. as a production worker, advanced to Foremen and retired as Plant Manager. He worked previously for 17 years at Cussins & Fearn Co. in Athens. He also opened a hot dog shop on Mill St. just outside the entrance to the Athens Bulldog football stadium.  He was a lifetime member of Athens Elks Lodge BPOE #973 (57 years).

After his early retirement Victor and Helena became snowbirds to Florida. He lived the life enjoying friendships in Ft. Myers, FL at Upriver Campground for 22 years and 15 years at his current address in the Crystal Lakes Manufactured Home Community.

His passion became the game of Shuffleboard, where he was known as a skilled professional and was highly competitive. His saying on the courts was "this is where friendship stops." He loved teaching others the game. He always believed there was not a shot he could not make. One lady said she learned more in an afternoon of playing with him than she had in years of playing. He was loved by everybody in the community.
