Obituary

Zelma Lee (Butcher) Hill, 76, of Guysville, OH went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 21, 2018.

Zelma was born in Athens County on July 29th, 1941 and was a graduate of Rome Canaan High School.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Lewis and Elsie Tabler Butcher; her husband Henry Leon Hill, four brothers- William "Sam", Robert, Floyd, and Mark Butcher; and two sisters, Alice Curtis and Madge Stewart.

She is survived by her two sons, H. Leon Hill of Washington D.C, and Terry (Amy) Hill and grandson, Evan Hill from Torch whom she adored.  Also surviving are a sister, Irene (Bill) Lucas; and a brother, Rev. John (Anita) Butcher.  She also leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, and friends from her Haga Mission Church family to mourn her passing.

A special thank you to her special friends that helped care for her during her illness; Darlene Jordan, Becky Laughlin, and Linda Nelson.  Their love made her days brighter.

Mrs. Hill was a faithful servant to God and spent many years volunteering at Coolville Elementary, local food banks, the Kilvert Community Center, and other social service agencies which assisted others in need. A lifelong Athens County resident, she enjoyed cooking, baking, canning, gardening, caring for her family, and serving others in her community.

The Homegoing service for Zelma will be held at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, 24 Morris Ave., Athens, Ohio on Thursday, July 26 th at 1:00 p.m.  Her final resting place will be at Mount Hermon Cemetery, Bern Township, near Amesville, Ohio.  Friends and family may call Wednesday, July 25 th from 6-8 p.m., as well as Thursday, July 26 th from 11-1 p.m., just prior to her final service.
